Background: This gorgeous home tucked away on the north side of town had beautiful cedar wood siding that had been left untreated for at least 15-20 years. The home had eves that kicked out 5-10 feet protecting the upper areas of the siding causing the wood to wear unevenly. It was built on a hill with the short side of the home protected from direct sun and harsh elements by large overhanging trees. The tall, downhill side of the home opened up to an open yard leaving it vulnerable to damage. The owner's intention was to seal the wood to make sure it didn't get damaged so badly that it would require replacement. When we test-patched products and color options on this house, we concluded that a solid body stain would be the best choice. It would be able to seal the deep cracks and craters in the old wood better, but it would also aesthetically bring the wood back to a fresh and uniform appearance.

Process: We masked off the windows, fixtures, and concrete, set up our sprayers on a shady side of the home, and began staining each wall from the top down. We made sure to brush in every board completely to work the thicker stain choice deep into the woodgrain. After we finished brushing in two full coats on every piece of wood siding, trim, and soffit, we pulled the masking. We then grabbed our tallest ladders and got to work putting a full two coats on all of the roof fascia in a color that complemented and added contrast to the rest of the home. Our final touch was to call in our painting crew to refinish the doors in the same color as the fascia.
