"Bobcat Staining took on the difficult and arduous task of refinishing our extremely weather-worn home. They analyzed what needed to be done, prepared the surface, and applied what they decided was the best finish for the surface and its exposure to the sun and weather. I'm certain that they exceeded the amount of work described in the contract, but stuck with their estimate. I couldn't be more pleased with their work and with the end-product."

Hyalite Foothills

(Color Change Restoration)

Background: This contemporary, farmhouse-style home in south Bozeman was constructed of cedar lap siding and board-and-batten in 2018. When we had been called out for an consultation 4 years later and it was clear that much of the black-stained cedar lap siding was faded and damaged by UV rays from constant direct sun hitting it. The owner decided to go for a comprehensive re-staining of the entire property to ensure the wood stayed protected.

Process: After our extensive preparation process (washing, masking, sanding, caulking, etc.), we began applying a high quality, semi-transparent stain to the board-and-batten siding. Once finished applying 2-3 coats of gray stain, we allowed it to dry before masking the edges of the board-and-batten. We then applied 2-3 coats of black stain to all lap siding. When we finished and pulled the masking, we were all so happy to see the beautiful transitions and crisp lines. To finish the job, we sanded the decks down using a powerful drum sander. We then power-washed and conditioned the wood before applying a semi-transparent deck stain. The end result was a house that looked as good as the day it was built (if not better) which was mostly in part to our meticulous process and product selection.
