Background: Located north of Bozeman on the west face of the Bridgers, this gorgeous custom home sees plenty of sun, snow, and wind. The owner, a lifelong Bozeman builder, has always taken great care of the home. The siding hadn't been sealed in about 10 years so it was looking quite porous and dry although it continued to retain much of its original color. In this case, we decided to use a clear oil sealant on the exterior in order to protect the wood, but not cover or hide its natural tones.

Process: When over half of the area on the siding is made of windows, its sometimes a cleaner and more effective strategy to hand brush all of the wood rather than spray and back brush. Our crews worked from the top down to brush a complete fresh coat of sealant onto every piece of fascia, trim, siding, posts, and beams. We always worked on a shady side of the home to ensure the stain can penetrate deep into the wood before curing as it should.
